‘The structure of life is a fragile thing’ Out of Sth / Wroclaw 2012 / This structure is built with some personal objects & symbols mixed with inspiration I got from conversations I had with the locals. I asked people to tell me what is important to them in life and then find a way of representing this with an object or symbol. The basic idea is that every piece is important to keep the structure standing, you take one thing out and it might collapse.

I decided to give this man a slightly camp appearance and with dark hair looking over his shoulder to represent the issues with racism & homophobia / The pencil is for an older woman that I spoke to and who is a writer / The hour glass is a representation of old times that have passed and soon will change with a new generation / The neck of a guitarr is for a guy with a recording studio nearby / The half full heart on the top is for my family with the intials of my girlfriend and son who I miss alot when going away.

The shape in the lower right corner is representing art / The almost empty bottle was initially a reminder to myself never to drink the night before starting a wall like this, on the last day however a local drunk who watched me paint the whole day asked me to write ‘Full’ on the label as it was his favourite label of beer, I told him that I don’t like to incorporate brand names in my piece but that I would write ‘F’ and that only he would know what this meant, he was happy with this compromise / The Wheel is for Hugo, a really nice guy who lives in the building next to the wall and invited me for coffee etc. / The volleyball is for a guy living close who told me his life is dedicated to this sport / The drumstick is for a local drummer / The eye symbol is the hobo sign for ‘Police is active’ and I made it for the street kids cleaning car windows in the busy junction in front of my wall, every 15 min or so they would shout ”PSY” (which means dogs and is slang for police) and run really fast not to get arrested. The symbol looks out for them / The hat is a hommage to the polish cartoon Professor Balthazar / The Woman symbol is for a lesbian couple I spoke to that explained the sometimes difficult situation for gay people in Poland.

The Head (self-portrait) is the first shape I made, there was a throw-up that I wanted to cover and this shape was perfect for it. The first day I suffered from a hangover and felt a little depressed, so I put the symbol for dantes inferno on my forehead and on top of that a heavy brick wall. / The bruised infinity sybmol I added the next day when feeling alot better and started to enjoy the process / The boot is for a woman I spoke to that loved shoes / The circle with eyes looking curiously in all directions except to the far right is representing the growing fascist movement in Poland / The cupcake is for the local baker.
